This work deals with the ambivalence of human presence in the French Southern territories.

The apparent contradiction between the austerity of a remote and desolate place, and the joy and enthusiasm of the people who stay there for a few months or a year is the main thread of the project.

Other dimensions, such as the purity of nature and the precariousness of projects attempted in Kerguelen expand on the main theme.

Reaching the archipelago takes fifteen days by boat. Four times per year, the ship Marion Dufresne brings scientists, food and material supplies.
